What is job (work or labor)?
Just started a discussion on how to make a school workbook "What's Job?", with a catalog of Bullshits and Care Jobs, and free space for kids' comments. Then when I got an email from a teacher Steve Russell who is already teaching it
The notebook will have 4 parts:
- Bullshits Jobs
- Jobs related to care and reproduction of life
- and… we will talk about the working conditions of the people — who are they now and who do kids think they should be.
- A world without work: is it possible?
This was then I got an email from a teacher up in Manchester Steve Russell.
Now, we must make the book! Anyone who wants to describe their work in a few sentences put a tag on it: “care” or “bullshits”, please send it we@a4kids.org.
It’s worth telling the high school students about all that is awaiting them outside of the doors of the schools when they will be awaited by the serious adults, who referred to them as a “workforce.”
With complete anonymity, of course.
